John 3:1-10 ”You Must Be Born Again”

In today's episode, we encounter Nicodemus for the first time in John's Gospel.  He is a well-documented historical figure, a Pharisee, and a member of Israel's Supreme Court- the Sanhedrin.  He only has one problem- he is outside of the Kingdom of God looking in.  Jesus gives him the only means of entrance into God's Kingdom.....the new birth! 

Genesis 24: ”A Bride for a Beloved Son” (Part II)

Genesis 24: ”A Bride for a Beloved Son” Part One

The longest chapter in the book of Genesis is devoted to Abraham finding a bride for his son of promise, Isaac.  We find Abraham's servant dispatched to his homeland of Mesopotamia to find the ideal candidate.  Abraham is convinced that "God will send His Angel" before the servant to prepare the way.   We see two important principles at work- separation for God's people and the Sovereignty of God at work in the ordinary affairs of God's people.  Open the Bible and study with us today! 

Genesis 22: ”Abraham’s Final Exam”

After Abraham sends away Ishmael at God's command, he is tested one last time in regard to his son Isaac.  Would Abraham love and trust God completely, even if it meant sacrificing his beloved son?  This powerful demonstration of the obedience of faith has implications for us today.

John 2:12-25 ”Filthy Temples and False Faith”

After the first sign of turning the water to wine, Jesus moves to Capernaum.  In this narrative He comes to Jerusalem for the Pilgrim Feast of Passover.  He finds the court of the Gentiles corrupted with those that were selling sacrificial animals and exchanging money for Temple Shekels.   Christ cleanses the Temple.   When many see HIs miraculous signs, they believe, but Jesus does not entrust Himself to them.

Today we look at one of the most majestic of all passages in the New Testament- the Prologue to John's Gospel.  Much as an overture provides previews of an opera or symphony, the Prologue gives us a glimpse into some of the major themes of the 4th Gospel:  Life, Light, Truth, Darkness, Witness, etc.
