Monday Nov 14, 2022
Monday Nov 14, 2022
In today's episode, we take a fresh look at the Olivet Discourse. Many mistakenly assume that Jesus is addressing Church Age believers in Matthew 24-25. What we will attempt to show is that the Church isn't even under consideration here. Matthew is explaining the postponement of the Kingdom and the circumstances by which it will come.

In the final chapter of Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians, he addresses concerns and questions they have about the "Day of the LORD". This term is found in the Old Testament numerous times and is always referring to the period of darkness the NT refers to as the Tribulation period. The believer will be taken to Heaven and appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ to receive his/her reward(s). Those left behind (unbelievers) will face an unprecedented time of hardship. Jesus describes even the earliest period of the Tribulation as the "beginning of sorrows" (Matt 24:8). Much fiction exists concerning this time period, but open the Bible with us and see what God actually has to say about it.

Genesis 10 records the "Table of Nations", or in other words, where the descendants of Shem, Ham, and Japheth ended up. Genesis 11 explains how the dispersion happened. The world was all of one speech and words. In their pride they decided to build a city, a tower, and a name for themselves. All of this was done independent of God. As we shall see, God comes down and has the final word.
