"1 Thing I Cannot Take Into The New Year" (Matt 18:21-35)

In this parable, Jesus gives us a proper understanding and perspective of forgiveness.  If we having been forgiven such a great debt, refuse to forgive others,  we will become prisoners of our own choosing.   Forgiveness is a choice, not a feeling.   To choose otherwise, is to invite torment. 

"They Walked With Him No More" (John 6:60-71)

In the final part of the "Bread of Life" discourse, we see a massive defection by the crowds following Jesus.  Like the ones mentioned in Luke 8:13, they believe "for a while" but in time of testing they fall away.   The true believers however, remained.

"There's Hope For You and Me" (Matt 1:1-17)

Most of us skip over the genealogies of the Bible.  But to do so, is to miss an opportunity to see God's grace at work.  In Matthew's Gospel, the ancestors of the Lord Jesus Christ are revealed, and they are anything but perfect.  God uses ordinary people like us to accomplish His purposes! 

"Recipe For A Happy Thanksgiving" (I Thess 5:16-18)

The holidays can be depressing for many, but the apostle Paul gives us the recipe for a Happy Thanksgiving and all throughout the year.  God's will is that we rejoice, pray continually, and give thanks in every circumstance we may find ourselves in.   

"No Man Can Come To Me Unless The Father Draws him" (John 6:37-47)

Jesus continues His sermon on "The Bread of Life".   The hungry crowds struggle with Jesus' remarks that He "came down from Heaven" because they were too familiar with Him.   He remarked that the only way a man can believe is if God reveals the Son to him.  

"All That The Father Gives Me Shall Come To Me" (John 6:30-37)

Following the feeding of the 5k men, the hungry crowds seek to make Jesus a king and ask Him to perform a sign.   Jesus refused, and instead reveals Himself as "The Bread of Life" that came down from Heaven to give them eternal life, not merely temporal blessings. 

"Water Walkers" (Matthew 14:22-33)

Immediately after Jesus fed the multitudes with loaves and fishes,  He sent the crowds away and sent the disciples into a storm.  After praying to the Father, Jesus walks on the water for miles to meet the frightened Apostles.  He comforts them, calms the storm and Peter also walks on the water.

"A Little Boy's Lunch" (Mark 6:30-44)

This account usually referred to as "The Feeding of the 5000" (actually probably more like 20k) is the only miracle (other than the Resurrection) included in all four Gospels.  We see Jesus creating something from nothing as only God can do.  This miracle should encourage every believer. 

Luke 10:11-27 "Do Business Till I Come"

The Passover pilgrims thought Jesus' entry into Jerusalem meant the Kingdom was about to begin.  Instead, Jesus tells a parable explaining that the King would go away to receive the Kingdom and come again to reckon with his servants.  We are to be faithful until that Day arrives. 

A Divine Appointment (Luke 19:1-10)

In our "People to Meet, Lessons to Learn" conclusion, we meet Zacchaeus, the chief among the tax collectors.  As such, he was despised by the majority of Israel, especially the religious elite.  But Jesus demonstrates once again, that He came to seek and to save that which was lost.
